Cât despre decizia de a compune pentru un film SF, Shinoda a declarat că e mare fan anime şi sci-fi, în special "Akira", "Metropolis", "The Matrix" şi "Aliens". Până la un nou album, muzicianul produce muzica pentru Kitten, Amirsaysnothing şi alţi artişti. În 2019 s-a discutat şi despre continuarea moştenirii Linkin Park cu un alt solist, dar asta va trebui să se întâmple natural.
Grupul a rămas fără solist, atunci când Chester Bennington s-a sinucis pe 20 iulie 2017. Grupul se află într-o pauză pe perioadă nedeterminată după tragedie.
