Artista britanică de muzică soul Laura Mvula a lansat videoclipul noului single ”Phenomenal Woman”. Piesa este inspirată de un poem scris de Maya Angelou, autoare cunoscută în special pentru activismul său în domeniul drepturilor omului.

The next promotional single and third overall taken from this project is the album’s closing track “Phenomenal Woman“, which was witten by Mvula with the collaboration of Troy Miller, who also produced it.
The single was released as instant grat along the pre-order on iTunes on April 19th. It’s an a spikier track with a remarkable 1970’s style gospel funk number, inspired by a poem of the same name by the remarkable Maya Angelou.

Născută în Birmingham, Londra, Laura Mvula a studiat pianul și vioara încă din școala primară. A început apoi să cânte în cvartetul Black Voices, alături de mătușa ei, continuându-și, apoi, drumul în muzică la Conservatorul din orașul natal. În perioada facultății a plecat în Italia în primul ei turneu, vocile colegelor sale din grupul Black Voices stimulându-i și mai mult pasiunea pentru muzică.
După ce a trimis demo-uri cu piese compuse de ea, RCA Records i-a oferit în mai 2012 primul ei contract, după care a urmat și primul single, ”She”. Albumul de debut, ”Sing to the Moon”, a fost lansat în 2013 și a inclus piesa ”Green Garden”, ce s-a auzit la radio și în România.
Muzica Laurei Mvula își are rădăcinile în soul-ul creat de Jill Scott, Erykah Badu și Lauryn Hill. Pentru armonia din vocea ei a fost comparată cu Nina Simone, iar pentru stilul său aparte, cu Bjork.
